Although she focuses on elder law, long-term care planning, and Medicaid application matters, Sreelekha Chakrabarty Amoruso doesn’t consider herself just an attorney. Sreelekha is a full-time partner at Amoruso & Amoruso LLP. Throughout her career, she’s developed first-hand knowledge about the stresses people face in their twilight years. These include experiencing the personal and financial impact of chronic illness and long-term care costs. Her personal experiences with such challenges have been, and continue to be, a steady source of empathy, strength, and comfort for clients throughout the New York area.

A native New Yorker, Sreelekha says that a drive to make a difference in people’s lives led her to pursue law. She earned her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School; holds a Master’s in Business Administration from The George Washington University; and majored in government at Cornell University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She is licensed to practice law in New York and Massachusetts.
Her legal affiliations include being a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the New York State Bar Association Elder Law Section. She was named a New York Metro Super Lawyer for Elder Law by Super Lawyers Magazine for three years in a row.
Sreelekha has lectured on topics including COBRA coverage, health insurance portability, and important elder care matters. One of her presentations, for Stetson University Law School’s 2019 National SNT Conference, discussed “Dotting the I’s and Crossing the T’s: So You Executed That Trust, Now What? Our Top Five Items to Advise the Grantor and Trustee.”
As diverse as her areas of elder law practice are, Sreelekha is also able to serve a wide array of clients from different cultural backgrounds, as she speaks Spanish, French, and Bengali. Her client base includes individuals and families New York’s Westchester County, Putnam County, Dutchess County, and Orange County, as well as Fairfield County in Connecticut.
Sreelekha’s non-law interests include tennis, golf, singing, enjoying live jazz, reading, and watching old movies. She is the devoted mother of two incredible daughters and the wife to Michael Amoruso, her longtime husband and law partner.
