Attorney Michael J. Amoruso was honored with the Section Award for his efforts in furtherance of the rights of the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities at the opening session of the New York State Bar Association Elder Law & Special Needs Section 2018 Annual Meeting in NYC. As he accepted the award, Michael urged his fellow attorneys to use the passage of the new Tax legislation as a wake-up call for the need to be vigilant in protecting and advocating for the interests of their Elder Law and Special Needs clients. He highlighted the fact that quick action by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys was instrumental in preventing the elimination of the Medical Expense Deduction, a deduction that is relied upon by the Elderly and Persons with Special Needs.
